When I said I don’t send out many emails, it seems I wasn’t kidding! Here is my first newsletter – five years after welcoming our first guests to the Lighthouse Keeper’s Cottage here at Noss Head! It’s definitely autumn now in CaithnessThings are feeling even more relaxed with fewer people driving the NC500. But there is still plenty to do. Caithness Animal Farm Park are celebrating Halloween with guided walks every day during October. And the Lichen Caithness Reindeer Centre who opened this summer are doing Spooktacular tours this autumn. If autumn evenings invite you to curl up with a good book……where better to find one than at the John O’Groats Book Festival? It is running from the 28th to 30th October, while the Taste North Food and Drink Festival on the 5th November celebrates our local larder. For couples wanting a really short break…I’ve launched a two night pitstop for two people for £200 – only available at these quieter times of year. They’re not on the website so email or WhatsApp me to ask about this. … or cosy up for a few more daysIf you’d like a getaway before Christmas, or if you’d like to take a few more days to relax and unwind, you can book the dates now on our website, or by contacting me by phone or by WhatsApp on 0777170289. And of course if you like to plan ahead, you’ve got the pick of next year’s dates too! Getting better every yearWe have had some great recognition this year for quality and for helping guests be green without being preachy about it. We received Gold Award for Green Tourism in the spring, and a Four Star rating from Visit Scotland later in the year. And talking of all things green, we have an outdoor socket for trickle-charging EV cars safely overnight and we plan to install a full-on EV charger next year. |
